On Thursday 22nd March at Napier University, Shannon, Chris McGuire and Natasha did a presentation about their company, BOING, which they have set up as part of the Young Enterprise programme. The audience comprised the members of the 22 other companies from Lothian schools taking part, Y.E.S. organisers, teachers and business people, over 200 people in total.
They did an excellent powerpoint presentation which was both professional and amusing.
A reminder of the BOING team members:
> Rachael Connor
> Natasha Buchan
> Victoria Garve
> Nichola Connor
> Chris McGuire
> Shannon Beattie (main presenter)
> Chris Purdie
> Samantha Laing
The presentation formed part of a competition which Y.E.S companies could opt to take part in. As part of this, they also completed an impressive company report (read by 12 judges) and attended panel interview.
On the Awards evening, BOING was awarded 1st place for Best Personnel Director/Management, and 3rd place for Best Production Director, a fantastic achievement for the team.
BOING was set up in September 2006 and will continue to run until June. You can support the team by ordering a copy of their 'Yearbook' DVD which they have experienced lots of hard work and fun making.
Finally 7 of the 8 members of BOING also opted to sit a Strathclyde University Business school sponsored exam in early March, to write about their experiences of running their own company. They will receive the results of this exam later in the year.
Some statistics for the context of the silver plate they won:
41 companies across Lothian were set up as part of Young Enterprise programme 2006-2007. Of these 23 took part in the competition process.
Does anyone know of a silver plate engraver?
